AIM AND/OR OBJECTIVE OF YOUR PROPOSED C.O.P.3 PROJECT

To explore what the definition of graphic design is and how its boundaries can be pushed in relation to psychological factors.

  1. What research needs to be undertaken into the general and specific contexts of your practice?
  • What does graphic design mean?
  • What is graphic design?
  • Are there any boundaries? If so, how can these be pushed? Think about interactive design (eg used in museums, event)
  • Consider psychological effects of design. Why might these influence design decisions

  1. What approach(es) will you take and what processes, methods, materials and tools are to be involved in research into your practice?
  • Activist approach when it comes down to physical design and research
  • Pragmatic approach overall is used as variation from different approaches will be considered throughout research and response

  1. What preparation or investigations do you need to undertake for your creative practice to take place?
  • Research into areas discussed in section 1
  • Impact of variables such as colour, scale and layout on a persons interpretation and their reaction changes (if any)



  1. What research do you need to undertake regarding who your creativity is for?
  • Target audiences mostly influenced by graphic design
  • Series of experiments, questionnaires to create and understanding about design perceived by the public

Perceived problems or difficulties:

  • It may be difficult to gather a vast variety of information from primary sources; this may be resolved by preparation and organisation over the summer period
  • Meandering between similar yet varied subjects
